About OpenKnowledge

OpenKnowledge is a markdown editor for knowledge bases, LLM wikis, specifications, and notes. It is described as private, local, and free, with support for Claude, Codex, and other AI harnesses.

It provides a WYSIWYG editing experience for Markdown files, alongside a desktop app for macOS, Windows, and Linux and a local web UI with file navigation, search, tabs, and graph-based wiki link viewing. AI editing is available side by side through Claude, Codex, OpenCode, Pi, MCP, and CLI integrations.

The project also includes MCP, skills, and agentic search for LLM wikis and knowledge graphs. Team sharing and auto-sync use Git and GitHub, and the web app can be run through the CLI with Node.js 24+ and Git.
