Read the whole codebase before I trusted it. Clean, MIT, no telemetry. The skill system is the best I've seen, it actually learns the shape of your project after a few days. 240k stars for a reason.

About Hermes Agent
Hermes Agent is an open-source, self-hosted AI agent from Nous Research. It runs as a terminal app or native application on macOS, Windows, and Linux, and can connect through Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, Signal, email, and CLI interfaces.
The agent maintains persistent memory, learns projects, creates skills, schedules tasks, and delegates work to isolated subagents. It also supports web search, browser automation, vision, image generation, text-to-speech, and multi-model reasoning.
Hermes Agent is available under the MIT license. Desktop downloads are provided for macOS 12+, Windows 10/11, and Linux installation via terminal.
Impressive demo, uneven daily use. Persistent memory sometimes remembers the wrong thing (an abandoned approach) and confidently applies it later. Needs a way to prune memories without editing SQLite by hand.
