Does what it says. The UI is a bit cluttered and I wish it had better keyboard shortcuts, but the results are reliable.
Aider
AI pair programming in your terminal
About Aider
Aider is a terminal-based coding tool that lets developers pair program with large language models on new or existing codebases. It can connect to cloud or local LLMs, including Claude, DeepSeek, OpenAI models, and other compatible models.
It maps the codebase to support work on larger projects and supports more than 100 programming languages. Aider integrates with Git, automatically commits changes with commit messages, and can run linters and tests after making edits. It can also be used from IDEs and editors, with images, web pages, and voice input available as coding context.
Aider is installed with Python’s package manager and requires access to an LLM through an API key or web chat interface. The site provides installation, usage, configuration, and troubleshooting documentation.

- Git integration with automatic commits
- Linting, testing, IDE usage, images, web pages, and voice-to-code support
Replaced two other subscriptions with this. The integration story is what sold me: it fits into the tools I already use instead of asking me to move.
This is the one I recommend to friends who are just getting into AI tooling. Low setup friction, sensible defaults, and it stays out of your way.
