Local-first everything. Ollama, LM Studio, a rack in the garage. Melbourne.

Runs on the garage box, talks to me on Signal, hasn't phoned home once (I checked, I'm that guy). 2.0 finally fixed the memory leak in the gateway. If you want an assistant you actually own, this is it.

This is the one I recommend to friends who are just getting into AI tooling. Low setup friction, sensible defaults, and it stays out of your way.

Best in class. The team ships improvements weekly and actually listens to feedback on Discord. Rare.

Excellent core experience. Docking a star because pricing gets steep once you're a heavy user, and the free tier limits hit faster than expected.

It's the boring choice, which is the highest praise infrastructure can get. ollama run and you're done. The new agent integrations mean my coding tools talk to the local box without me doing anything.

If you're on the fence, just try it. The free tier is generous enough to see whether it fits your workflow.

Does what it says. The UI is a bit cluttered and I wish it had better keyboard shortcuts, but the results are reliable.
