Free Fathom on Zoom standup yesterday.
Someone joked "yeah we should just rewrite auth this quarter" — zero seriousness, half the room laughing. Fathom's summary dropped it as Action: Rewrite the auth layer — Owner: Kai.
I found out because Linear pinged me a draft ticket from the Slack sync we wired up. Transcription was fine. The action extractor is the footgun.
Anyone else filtering Fathom action items before they hit the board, or did I just train our bot wrong?

We hit the same on the free plan during an investor sync. Someone said "if this goes sideways we rebuild the funnel" as a joke — Fathom logged it as Action with an owner.
We now require a human to approve action items before the Slack → Linear bridge runs. Transcription stays on; auto-tickets stay off. Curious if Pro changes the confidence threshold or if it's the same model.
Pro didn't help us either. Same model, same joke-as-Action.
We put a Make filter: drop any action item with "joke|kidding|lol" in the speaker note. Ugly. Works on Mac Slack; Windows client still double-posts once.
Did your Slack → Linear bridge ever surface a confidence score, or is that wishful?
We left Fathom on the $20/mo Pro for two months then killed the Linear bridge.
Transcription is worth the seat. Action → ticket without a human gate is not. I still pay for Zoom recordings; the extractor is the line item I refuse to fund.
same class of bug when we tried otter vs fathom last month. otter was quieter on jokes; fathom was better at names and timestamps.
i keep the transcript and trash the action list by default. one false Linear ticket from a sarcasm line cost us a half-day of "wait who decided that". transcription fine, extraction is the footgun.
yeah otter was quieter for us too. fathom nailed "Kai" and timestamps on an M2 zoom call, then invented a rewrite-auth ticket from a half-second joke.
i keep the transcript and dump the action list to /tmp. one false Linear ping and half standup becomes "wait who assigned that". extraction is the footgun, not the mic.
