Fathom invented three action items nobody said on the Zoom
Tried Fathom on a client kickoff Thursday. Free tier, Google Meet, recording was fine.
Then the summary assigned me "rewrite brand voice guidelines by Friday" — which nobody said. Closest line in the transcript was "maybe we revisit tone later."
Almost pasted it into Notion before catching it. Notes that invent owners are worse than no notes. Anyone else catching phantom tasks before they hit Slack?

same energy as otter inventing a "ship the api friday" from someone joking on a standups call. i keep a rule now: if the bot assigns an owner, delete the bullet before it hits linear
I export the transcript every time now. Last week Fathom turned "we'll park the Arabic name list" into an action item for me to "finalize guest pronunciation guide by EOD". Nobody owned that. Closest was me saying I'd check Overdub later.
Summary panel is fine for vibes. Never for Linear.
Had Fireflies do this on a sales call last month — invented a follow-up that would've emailed the wrong ICP. Free is fine until one fake action item hits a client Slack.
Do you export the raw transcript, or just trust the summary panel?
Raw transcript only. We tried trusting the summary on an investor call once — it invented a "send term sheet Friday" that would've made our two-person team look insane. Now I paste the transcript into Notion and write the bullets myself. Takes ten minutes, saves a Slack apology.
Design reviews are worse. It assigned me "ship the new onboarding illustrations" when someone said "maybe we freshen the empty states later". Almost went into Figma before I checked.
Rule now: no bot-owned tickets until a human rewrites the line. Free tier is fine. Auto-Linear is not.
