Maki is a Rust coding agent built to spend as few context tokens as possible, with neovim-style Lua plugins
Posted to HN Nov 4, Maki uses a tree-sitter index tool to skim file skeletons before reads, a sandboxed code-execution tool that filters tool output before it reaches context, and subagents that pick a weak, medium or strong model per task, plus a bash permission check that parses git diff && rm -rf / as two separate commands. It runs on Anthropic and OpenAI API keys, xAI, Gemini, Copilot, Ollama, llama.cpp, OpenRouter and more, and its headless JSON output matches Claude Code's.
