Anthropic donates the Agent Skills standard to the Linux Foundation's Agentic AI Foundation

Announced Oct 22, the SKILL.md folder format used by 70+ agent platforms including ChatGPT, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot now lives under AAIF alongside MCP, with the name, GitHub org, and agentskills.io domain handed over and maintainers from Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI. Anthropic says 1 million skills have been published and nearly 280 million installed; the proposed roadmap adds versioned releases, a formal proposal process, and security guidance (spec).
